Overview :

The TTS Women in Transplantation initiative has been set up to provide support and guidance to future generations of transplant professionals. Our Networking Events are an interesting and unique opportunity for women to make contact with others in the same field.

Guest Speaker: muller elmi 2ELMI MULLER, MD

Dr. Elmi Muller is a General Surgeon specialized in Transplant and Vascular Access Surgery. She has an active interest in promoting organ donation and is the Transplantation Society’s councillor for the region Middle East/Africa. She has been involved in many transplant-related outreach and educational programmes for the public and medical profession through the Organ Donor Foundation of South Africa, of which she is the Medical Director. She initiated a Donation after Cardiac Death programme as well as a transplant programme for HIV positive patients utilizing HIV positive donors at Groote Schuur Hospital.


sykes meganMEGAN SYKES, MD

Dr. Sykes is the Michael J. Friedlander Professor of Medicine and Professor of Microbiology & Immunology and Surgical Sciences (in Surgery), Columbia University. She is Director of the Columbia Center for Translational Immunology, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She also serves as Director of Research for the Transplant Initiative, New York-Presbyterian Hospital and as Director of Bone Marrow Transplantation Research in the Division of Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Sykes joined Columbia University in April, 2010 after spending 19 years at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, where she was the Harold and Ellen Danser Professor of Surgery and Professor of Medicine (Immunology) and Associate Director of the Transplantation Biology Research Center.
