We suggest that you read the biographies of any of the mentors you are interested in (click on the bio tab next to their picture and you will be taken to their information) and when you are ready to select your mentors, return to your mentee application form (go to the Mentoring Scheme menu and choose 'become a mentee') and choose your mentors from the drop down boxes in the form.

Mayra Lopez-Cepero, Ph.D. D(ABHI) HCLD (ABB)

Dr. Lopez-Cepero received her B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus and her M.S. in Microbiology and Medical Zoology from the UPR, School of Medicine. She received her Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology and Immunology from the University of South Florida in Tampa , FL USA. She was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Miami School of Medicine and the Sylvester Cancer Center where she received training in Tumor Immunology. As part of her training, Dr. Lopez-Cepero, was a visiting scientist at the Basel Institute for Immunology and Hoffman-LaRoche in Basel , Switzerland. She returned to the University of South Florida for Clinical Immunology Training in the area of Transplant Immunology. She has been in the field of transplant immunology for 16 years and currently is the Director, Senior Vice- President of the LifeLink Transplant Immunology Lab, LifeLink Foundation in Tampa, FL. Her areas of interest include Flow Cytometry and Post-Transplant monitoring. Dr. Lopez-Cepero is a current member of the American Society of Transplantation, American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI), Transplantation Society and the American Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation. In ASHI she has been member of the Education Committee, the Laboratory Director’s Review Board and ARB. She is a board member of the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI) and chairs the Bylaws committee at ABHI.
